quote from Herzog

"Humans are not made to sit at computer terminals or travel by aeroplane; destiny intended something different for us. For too long now we have been estranged from the essential, which is the nomadic life: traveling on foot. A distinction must be made between hiking and traveling on foot. In today’s society—though it would be ridiculous to advocate traveling on foot for everyone to every possible destination—I personally would rather do the existentially essential things in my life on foot. When you come on foot, you come with a different intensity."

Great advice from Leo Babauta

In this article: Leo Babauta says,
Start each day by asking yourself: what’s the most important thing I can do today, that will have the biggest impact on my life? Do this first, before you do email or meetings or read stuff online or Twitter or anything else. Only when you’re done should you consider other things.

The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran

I just finished Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet Such beautiful poetry and so wise. I'd love to read everything Kahlil Gibran has ever written.

Quote about children: "You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you."
I love that quote because children have a wonderful grasp of raw honesty. They speak exactly what's on their minds and as adults we want to turn to them and say, "Honey, that's unacceptable." But, in reality we need to look to them and strive to incorporate their ability to be honest into our own daily lives.

quotes:
*To know the pain of too much tenderness,
to be wounded by your own understanding of love.

*To the open-handed, the search for one who shall receive is joy greater than giving.

*You shall not want is you but know how to fill your hands.

*Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.

*You talk when you caese to be at peace with your thoughts; when you can no longer dwell in the solitude of your heart you live in your lips.

*Thought is a bird of space, that in a cage of words may indeed unfold its wings but cannot fly.

*Even those who limp go not backward.

*For this I bless you mpst:
You give much and know not that you give at all.

*You have sung to me in my aloneness, and I of your longings have built a tower in the sky.

The End of the Semester

The worst part about taking classes is getting to that point where you love everyone in the class and find them all incredibly insightful. The reason that's the worst part is because that's usually right when the class is about to end for the semester and you probably will never see those people again. Do we love them for nostalgic reasons? Or do we simply discover them to be incredible people who are meant to touch our lives for brief moments at a time?

Fantastic Mr. Fox

It was a wonderful movie. Great dialogue! I have always been and will forever and always be a fan of claymation- it's my favorite medium. I felt very happy and uplifted after watching this- highly recommended!
